On September 16th, 2000, War Child Canada produced what has been described as "the most successful charitable concert event in Canadian history" (The Record, September, 2000) with over 80,000 people attending the largest concert ever held in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

This free benefit concert was a first-of-its-kind event which raised close to $500,000 for war-affected children. Musicians who took part in the concert included The Tragically Hip, Chantal Kreviazuk, Angelique Kidjo and Maestro.
