War Child’s mission is to work with war-affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice. War Child takes an active role in raising public awareness around the impact of war on communities and the shared responsibility to act.

Why is War Child needed?

More than 2 million children have died as a direct result of armed conflict over the last decade.
Newborns in developing countries are 8 times as likely to die in childhood as those in industrialized countries.
Over the last decade, 20 million children have been forced to flee their homes because of conflict and human rights violations.

Founder’s Story

In 1995, Samantha Nutt touched down in Somalia. What she saw there would spur her on to a lifetime of passionate advocacy.
